Feb 19 , 2014

Date: 24 – 26 Jan 2014

Place: Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Al Azhar Indonesia University and Gadja Mada University (UGM), Indonesia

Bogor Agricultural Institute (9:00 – 11:00 24 Jan 2014)

With the cooperation of the International Collaboration Office and Dr. Lilik of the Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), I gave a presentation to 53 participants at Silva Pertamina Auditorium. The presentation included an introduction to foreign study at the University of Tsukuba, the Masters Program of Environmental Sciences, Division of Sustainable Environment Studies, and the SUSTEP program. Many students had already decided their research theme so they asked questions mainly about procedures concerning scholarships, the entrance examination and the dormitories at the University of Tsukuba.

Al Azhar Indonesia University (10:0015:00 25 Jan)

Fifteen Japanese universities joined the Fourth Japan Education Fair FY2013 held by the G30 office of the University of Tokyo at Al Azhar Indonesia University in Jakarta. Dr. Noguchi (Associate Professor of the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences), Ms. Siti Dian Mardiani (Bandung Office staff, Indonesia) and I represented the University of Tsukuba. There were 916 participants at the education fair. Out of these, approximately 200 visited our booth. People sought information on the type of study they could undertake, how to make contact with a university professor and the types of scholarships available. Many participants were from IPB, so they were interested in Agricultural courses.

Gadja Mada University (11:0016:00 26 Jan 2014)

Following 25 Jan, Dr. Noguchi, Ms. Siti Dian Mardiani and I represented the University of Tsukuba at the Fourth Japan Education Fair FY2013 at Gadja Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. There were 3,145participants. Out of these, more than 500 visited our booth, however, these numbers may not be accurate as we gave out all the available promotional material. Many participants were from UGM, and were particularly interested in medical sciences and engineering. Compared to the Fair in Jakarta, there were students who were interested in engineering, forestry, geosciences and biology, so we could introduce / recommend the Division of Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Environmental Studies.

Towards the next Japan Education Fair

This Fair provided us with an excellent opportunity to introduce the SUSTEP Program to prospective Indonesian students. As many of the students interested in environmental sciences have already checked our division website we need to offer them all the information necessary to join our Program.
