Three SUSTEP students majoring in Environmental Studies (Doctoral Program in Sustainable Environmental Studies), University of Tsukuba, won awards in 2016 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) held in Tongji University, Shanghai, China during June 3-8, 2016.
This conference was co-organized by UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), and UNESCO, FAO, UNAIDS, Bayer and SKLPCR. The theme of 2016 ISCES was Sustainable Consumption and Production which included 4 sub-topics: Ecosystem and Wildlife, Eco-city, Energy Transition and Climate Change, and Green Lifestyle.
The information of the students and their awards are as follows.
1. Mr. Johan Syafri Mahathir Ahmad (Chief Supervisor: Associate Professor Zhongfang Lei) Mr. Johan won (1) the First Prize for his brilliant oral presentation on “Comprehensive Roof Garden as An Approach for Integrated Urban Activities-Rural Atmosphere and Sustainable On-site Sanitation System: Pilot Project in Yogyakarta, Indonesia” and (2) the Excellent Poster on “Roof Garden”.
2. Mr. Yucheng Zhu (Chief Supervisor: Professor Yoshiro Higano)
Mr. Zhu won the Third Prize for his poster on “Wireless Transmission of Energy in the Future”.
3. Ms. Weiwei Huang (Chief Supervisor: Professor Zhenya Zhang)
Ms. Huang won the Third Prize for her excellent oral presentation on “Volatile Fatty Acids (VFAs) Production from Swine Manure through Short-term Dry Anaerobic Digestion and Its Separation from Nitrogen and Phosphorus Resources in the Digestate”.
